At times like these you wish you could throw the car seat at the idiot that decided we need to use car seats. You are driving down the road fighting traffic, your little one is yelling bloody murder you just can not take this anymore. Your about to lose it!

If you have ever been been in this situation you can empathize with those that deal with this challenge. Sometimes these occurrences are just once in a while but for some young ones they happen every time they are placed in their safety seat .

While lots of people will offer their ideas as to why your kid is crying the bottom line is they are not enjoying their car seat experience. Some people say it is the cold or heat, or maybe the vibrations the seat makes. Others talk about how it might be the tightness or that they just plain feel trapped.

Imagine yourself being strapped into a cold seat when it is 20 degrees out or how about dropped into the seat in a hot car when it is 90 degrees plus outside.

No matter what you need things to be different. You can definitely try anther car seat. You might consider this a bit much but how much to like the screaming? But, if you try another car seat it has to be one that is known for its comfort. A wonderful example of this is a Britax Decathlon car seat.

Before you do go buy another car seat you might consider this idea. Figure out some treat that your child really likes. Yes, even something sweet to eat. How, only give this to them when they are acting or behaving the way you want. In order for this to work you have to decide what behavior you want to reward. If it means you want to reward them for being quite for 15 seconds because that is all you can start with then so be it. Remember they only get this treat in response to your desired behavior and at no other time. You can gradually extent the time frame as they respond to the rewards.

You will not tell them what the behavior is you will simply reward it when you see it. Give them the treat and some praise; you will get results if you are consistent. Positive reinforcement like this will work much better then a negative punishment approach.

While this might seem like a simple solution if it works, which it does, do not ignore it. This technique will produce results as long as you are not facing with a real physical discomfort. If this is the case it is necessary that you consider upgrading to a Britax Decathlon convertible car seat or similar seat because kids have proven they are comfortable.
