The UPPAbaby Vista Stroller is a sleek and modern combination stroller and bassinet that is ideal for newborns and toddlers up to a weight of 50 pounds.

It is manufactured by a relatively new company called UPPAbaby but already they have made a strong impression on the market with the quality and practicality of their products.

Click here to see the best price I found on this stroller or else carry on reading my review to see if this is the stroller for you.

What do you need to know about the UPPAbaby Vista Stroller?

The stroller section has a reversible seat that lets you choose from up to 3 angles of adjustment besides upright.

Included weather and sun shield and pop out canopy which has a very high sun protection factor of 50.

This is a relatively large stroller at 24 pounds in weight and is 25 inches across when fully extended. The bassinet adds another 3 pounds of weight too.

Comes in a variety of colors including red, white, blue, green and beige shades.

Full size carry basket and rubber tires that never go flat.

Front and rear suspension which cushions baby from undulating surfaces.

Red and green indicators to let you know whether everything is connected properly.

Easy folding procedure for quick storage.

UPPAbaby Vista Stroller review

One of the popular features of this stroller is the maneuverability despite the fact that it is quite a large and wide unit overall.

The extra size also lends this stroller to being very suitable for taller people who might otherwise have had problems having to stoop down to push strollers in the past. There is also ample space for your feet to swing freely while you are pushing it without risk of hitting a wheel axle or piece of the frame itself.

Will the baby like it?

Buying a good stroller will be a case of balancing your own needs and wants with that of the baby. The good thing about the UPPAbaby stroller is that it allows the occupant to be rear facing, meaning you get 1-on-1 interaction while you are pushing them along.

This is definitely going to lead to a better overall experience for the both of you. There also exists the option of choosing from 4 different seat settings – upright, slight decline, half decline and finally deep recline. That way you can adjust the seat position based on whether baby is sleepy or active or somewhere in between.

Of course, the larger stroller also means that your baby will be further off the ground. This will make them more immune to pets, general dirt and dust and fumes. It will also save your back because you won’t have to bend down so far!

Versatility of the UPPAbaby Vista Stroller

Something else that you will enjoy having is of course the included bassinet. It isn’t just some cheap add-on either and is probably better in some cases than a stand-alone bassinet would be. It is perfect for an overnight trip to the grandparents house and the thick foam mattress will actually make it comfortable to sleep in too.

There is also the possibility of acquiring the rumble seat to make it a double stroller too if the need arises in the future.

The brake system is also very ease to use even if you don’t exactly have solid footwear on and this is one of the main improvements that has been made over the older 2009 model.

What are other parents saying about the UPPAbaby Vista?

Overall this stroller has received a very high ratio of positive reviews. It is praised for being user-friendly, for having a generous and effective canopy (unlike the Bugaboo line) and the fact that it can be pushed with one hand despite the comparatively large size.

E. Wolff from Chicago, IL, said that quite simply buying the Vista was the best decision she had ever made.

She noted that this stroller was best for the sort of lifestyle where a lot of walking was done, whether it to be the park or to the shops or out to lunch at a nice restaurant. It definitely is not for people who want to drive everywhere and use a stroller to get around. The size alone will prohibit hassle-free car storage in all but the very largest cars with a lot of space.

This is definitely an important distinction to make and if you sound like the second group of people then you may want to consider something more agile and car friendly.

DC Mama from Washington DC said that she loved the large size of the basket, allowing her to take it shopping and fit several bags of grocies underneath no problem at all. She also applauded the UPPAbaby customer service which seems to quite a common theme amongst reviewers and it is always important to have good customer support these days.

Conclusion

The UPPAbaby Vista Stroller is clearly a stroller that you should be considering, particularly if you would prefer to favor using a stroller and walking as opposed to taking the car. It is large but also maneuverable and combines a lot of other thoughtful features that other brands simply leave out. Yes, the price will put some people off but you have to think about what price you are willing to put on convenience, safety and the general happiness of both you and your children.

Having said that, large discounts can be had on this stroller at the usual times of year so make sure you regularly check prices or even search for a second hand model if that is your preference.

The Britax Roundabout Car Seat is made to be used in the rear facing position for infants as well as front facing for babies that weigh up to 40 pounds. As a parent who wants nothing less than the safest and most comfortable seat for your little one, this is a seat worth checking into. Not only does it come in a wide array of stylish fabrics including denim, but it is one of the few seats on the market today that actually goes above and beyond the legal requirements for car seat safety.

Comfort is very important for your child, but not as much as the safety that the eat provides. Your child will cry and squirm everytime they are placed in the seat if they are not comfortable. That not only rattles your nerves and makes you want to avoid leaving the house, but it slows you down. You probably don’t want to waste your time on a seat that is not comfortable for your baby.

There are two distinct types of foam being used for the Roundabout seat. One is designed for comfort while the other is designed to add an extra layer of protection in case of an accident. It also includes a belly pad which serves as a safety and comfort device.

In terms of safety, you simply cannot go wrong with this seat. This car seat lives up to all the laws on safety, while even going beyond the bare minimum in some aspects. The LATCH method is the unique installation process that this seat uses. This simply means you put it in using latches and tethers instead of a seatbelt. The seat still operates as it normally would with a seat belt, but the LATCH technique works so quickly that you will grow to love it and always want to depend on it.

The harness can be placed at three different heights because of its three point system. This ensures that your baby stays safe at all ages as you simply adjust to the appropriate position as they grow. The harness system used surpasses the federal standards that are needed for carseats. It is called HUGS or harness ultra guard system.

Chosing this seat over the others available will give some great perks to the parent. First, the harness straps do not get twisted and tangled up, which is a huge time waster with most other seats. As your child grows you will be able to loosen the straps with the press of a button and a pull of the straps. On their own, these two special features will save you plenty of time that you would have spent fixing straps and tight buckles otherwise.

Another perk is that the fabric is extremely soft and easily comes off for cleaning, which is essential for diaper accidents and snacks on the go.

The only real downsides are small points which are easily overcome with the extra safety and comfort features. One example of this is the seatbelt, which may prove to be a bit coarse if you don’t buy the cover for it. If you like to use neck pillows to go behind your baby’s head, be aware they are not going to fit with the unique shape of the Britax Roundabout Car Seat.

Looking for some ideas for a baby gift ? A new arrival is always an exciting time, but it’s not always easy to find the perfect gift.
Now here’s a fresh idea…. flowers. A stunning fresh floral arrangement is a special and personal gift which will leave a lasting impression.
And if you can’t decide on what to do, have a chat to your local florist who will happily discuss budget, preferences, ideas etc. It’s worth remembering that seasonal flowers always offer the best value.
Traditional pastel hued flowers are always popular, especially those varieties with small flowers. Some of the types of flowers that are frequently used in baby arrangements are roses, orchids, tuberoses, lisianthus, baby’s breath and carnations.
Gender-specific arrangements with blue flowers for a new baby boy and pink flowers for a baby girl are becoming very popular. The only limit is imagination – there’s so much to choose from traditional posies, loose bouquets to formal centrepieces. That’s the great thing about giving flowers. It’s so personal and there aren’t any rules to follow.
Professinal florists, such as Ennis Flowers in Perth are always coming up with new ideas for baby gifts, hampers and baby showers. They have found that more and more people are opting for a combination of flowers and gifts as it offers the best of both worlds.”It’s lovely to get a gorgeous fresh arrangement as well as a toy or clothing that’s more practical. This is the best of both worlds – a congratulatory gift for the parents and something for baby too,’ said the Perth florist.
And have you thought about something for mum ?Another suggestion from the Perth florist is a gift hamper for the new mum, filled to the brim with personal care items and luxury indulgences. They also prepare stunning baby gift boxes filled with toys and care items for baby.
And if you want to add a bit of fun to your gift, what about an arrangement decked with brightly coloured theme balloons. That’s often a good choice when there are older siblings in the family, who may feel a little put out by all the attention being piled on the new arrival. It is sometimes a good idea to include little gifts for other siblings so that they all feel part of the celebrations.
‘Flower bouquets’ made from babies’ clothing is another innovation that’s making a hit.Made from items of clothing such as bibs, rompers and leggings, these are carefully folded into ‘fabric roses’ which are then mixed with artificial leaves and wrapped in tissue paper.A ‘teddy bouquet’ made from a bunch of tiny teddies, tied together in coloured paper and ribbon, is another gift with a difference. Another idea is a selection of ‘cupcakes’ or ‘gelato cones’, made from items of clothing such as socks, vests and rompers and arranged in silicon cupcake moulds to look just like edible treats.
Another novel idea are ‘nappy cakes’ which are tiers of nappies and other gifts resembling a magnificent cake, all wrapped up in cellophane and ribbon. These look spectacular and are really practical gifts which can be colour-coded for a boy or a girl.

Whether you happen to be anticipating your first child or gathering materials for a future grandchild, you are most likely readying yourself for the new changes ahead. Most parents worry about losing their ability to get up and go whenever and wherever they want on a moment’s notice, but with the Graco Quattro Tour Travel System there is absolutely nothing to worry about! Bringing a baby into the family is a beautiful thing, but it should never slow you down.

From the moment your child is born and until the premise of toddlerhood, this will be the only stroller you will ever want or need. This stroller is packaged with three matching parts: a SnugRide32 infant car seat, an adjustable base for inside the car and a stroller with a sturdy aluminum build. Together, the system allows you to move your baby in seconds from the car to the stroller and back again. This will get rid of all or any difficulties typically involved in the process of lifting your child from their seat entirely!

It takes only seconds to move your little one from the car to wherever you are going with ease and speed. The stroller will hold the baby up to 50 pounds and is durable enough to stand up to an active toddler. The seat folds all the way down for naps or sits up to give your little one a view of the world. The infant car seat has a five point harness for complete safety and can snap into the stroller facing you, so you never have to take your eyes off them! For added convenience, there are also built-in cup holders and a handy storage compartment.

The only major problem with the Quattro Tour system is its hefty weight, which happens to outweigh most strollers of today. This is not a problem with Graco in particular, but an issue that many parents have with full sized travel systems altogether. Most people find the many benefits of the travel system outweigh the inconvenience of the unit weighing a little more. There are a lot of parents who also see the weight as being a minimal agitation since this stroller was made to fold up with one hand.

The Graco Quattro Tour Travel System comes in a variety of color combinations and models, each with slightly different features. You can even buy a Sport model that fits parents leading more busy lifestyles. These are made to provide parents with the extemporaneity required for surviving their day, as well as instilling a sense of contemporary style that parents value. You never have to disturb a sleeping baby just to carry them into the mall and you don’t have to worry about propping a small baby up in a stroller that she hasn’t yet grown into. This will get rid of some of the most significant problems that living with a baby usually brings about. For anyone who is active and expecting a baby, the Graco Quattro Tour Travel System can really simplify their lives, and help them stay on the go.

A new baby might be absolutely adorable but having to take care of one can also seem like the scariest thing in the world too! You can end up buying a whole lot of baby stuff which frankly won’t see the light of day after you’ve used it a few times. I say this from personal experience. The main things your new baby will be doing for the first few weeks are sleeping, feeding and dirtying diapers. The two other things that you need to consider are traveling and bathing. Get the basics of these covered and you’ll be fine.

Here are the essential things that you will need for for your newborn baby

1) Diapers and related items

Not surprisingly you are going to need diapers. A lot of diapers! Most people opt for disposable nappies and if you are environmentally aware you’ll be glad to know that you can get green dispoable diapers these days too. Nature Babycare do a range that were awarded the “Best Disposable Diaper” Silver Award for 2006-2007 by Mother & Baby Magazine. They are also approved by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

2) Place to change the baby

Now you will need somewhere to change the baby as this can be fun and games in the early days. You don’t need to go out and buy a dedicated changing table but you will at least need to have a changing mat which you can put on the floor.

Click to View Range of Changing Pads at Amazon

3) Baby Skin Care products

As well as diapers, you will also need to stock up on wipes, diaper ointment and cotton balls. Newborn babies have very sensitive skin, so you must take care when cleaning your baby’s bottom. Some parents prefer to use a washcloth and warm water instead of baby wipes, although a lot of wipes that are available are fragrance free and do not contain harsh chemicals that can damage your infant’s skin. Don’t forget, as a part of newborn baby care, to change your child frequently. Don’t only change them when they are dirty as being wet can be very uncomfortable for them and also contribute to diaper rash.

4) Crib, Bassinet or Moses Basket

Your newborn baby will start off sleeping about sixteen hours a day in the beginning. This sleep normally takes place in blocks of about three to four hours as that is about as long as they can go without food. Because your newborn will spend so much time sleeping, his sleep environment is important so you need to make sure you provide the proper setting for him. A Moses basket, bassinet or crib without any excess bedding such as pillows (which shouldn’t be given to a baby under 12 months old) is ideal. Make sure you place your baby on his back to sleep as this reduces the risk of SIDS.

5) Baby Feeding Bottles

Babies need feeding every two to four hours in the early days and weeks of life. This applies to babies who are breast fed and bottle fed. While demand feeding (offering food when the baby seems hungry) is a good approach, it can be used in conjunction with a loose feeding routine so that the baby’s digestive system can start to become regulated. This approach to newborn baby care tends to be easier with bottle-fed babies as it is easier to see exactly how much milk they are taking. Don’t forget to wind your baby as burping allows air taken in during sucking to escape before getting into the tummy so it is an important part of the feeding process.

If you are bottle feeding you will need three or four bottles, cleaning brushes and a steam sterilizer. I’d recommend a set like the Dr Brown Newborn Feeding set (pictured). This contains three 4oz bottles which is more than enough to get you started. You can usually pick the set up on Amazon for about $15. (Click the picture to view) which is good value for money.

If you are not going for a set that contains bottle brushes then make sure you buy some separately. They don’t cost much and are very useful.

N.B. As far as I’m concerned you can totally do without a bottle warmer and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!

6) Sterilizer

The sterilizer is another thing you don’t need to overboard on. You really don’t need to spend $70 plus on an electric steamer. A simple microwave one like the one here -again by Dr Brown – is perfectly adequate and much more convenient. It should only set you back about $25 too.

7) Muslin Squares

Babies throw up. A lot. Get yourself half a dozen muslin squares. They don’t have to be fancy just the basic plain white variety will do but trust me you’re gonna need them. They actually served three purposes for me. The first, as I already mentioned, was as a burp cloth. The second was as a swaddle blanket as Muslin is a great fabric for this. And the third purpose was that my youngest boy always used one as a comfort “blankie”. This was quite handy as it goes because it meant that it wasn’t so special that we would be constantly worrying about losing it as it could be so easily replaced! He’s five now and still sleeps with his muslin square every night:)

Sophie the Giraffe by Vulli has become a bit of a cult figure in mommy circles. This teether originated in France and, believe it or not, Sophie is celebrating her 50th birthday this year! I find that extraordinary for just a teething product. But she’s obviously stood the test of time and for whatever reason most babies seem to love this teether. Whether its the vibrant spots all over her or the squeak she makes when chewed who knows? Whatever it is though it works. Sophie the Giraffe is flexible with plenty of chewable parts. She is made of made of natural rubber and food paint so no need to worry about dangerous toxins. Also babies become used to the rubber smell so that becomes comforting too. Her long thin neck makes her very easy for babies to grip. I suppose it’s quite pricey for a teether (the list price is $23.90 but Amazon are selling it for around $17 with free shipping at time of writing) but teething is a very unpleasant experience for a lot of babies and in my book anything that can take the edge off has got to be worth it. I just wish I’d known about Sophie when my two little ones were teething.

If you head on over to Amazon you will see that that most moms gives this teether a five star rating. There’s also a cute video that someone has posted of their baby enjoying the Sophie teether.

“My four month old is obsessed with Sophie. She can’t get enough of it.”
“Wow! Best Baby Toy Ever!”
“Totally lives up to the hype–We love Sophie!”

In fact this teether has had over 1000 reviews which is extraordinary in itself! A word of warning though. From what I’ve been reading there do seem to be some cheap imitation Sophie the Giraffe teethers going around so make sure you buy yours from a reputable dealer and if you’re in any doubt as to its authenticity then return it at once.

Every parent wants to be assured that their baby is developing at a ‘normal’ rate but whilst all babies go through different milestones in the same order the pace does vary from baby to baby. However it is possible roughly gauge how your baby will develop in his or her first year. As you are probably aware, your baby will have growth spurts but you will also see development spurts too. Movements tend to be quite jerky to begin with but become smoother as the baby gets older.
Baby Development Stage at One month
Your baby’s body will not be very straight yet but he will be able to raise his head slightly. He will make tight fists of his hands and anything which is placed in the palm of his hand he will grasp due to a reflex action.

Baby Development Stage at Two months
At two months he will be able to raise his head slightly more and be able to hold that position for a couple of seconds. His hands will start to open more and his grasp will start to become voluntary rather than a reflex.

Baby Development Stage at Three months
Your baby’s body will now be uncurled and his legs will be extended. He will be able to hold his head up. He may still not be able to grasp things for long but his hands will have opened up.

Baby Development Stage at Four months

At four months, if you place your baby on his tummy he should be able to support his upper body on his forearms and will be able to roll on to his side or even on to his back. His hands will become a source of great fascination for him and he could spend hours looking at them and playing with them.

Baby Development Stage at Five months

Your baby will be able to fully push himself up on his arms and will be able to roll from back to side. He will start to grasp objects with both of his hands and will probably start to enjoy a new game of sucking his feet.

Baby Development Stage at Six months
Your baby will be able to sit unsupported for a few seconds and will be able to twist in all directions. He might be able to turn his wrist and hold an object between his thumb and forefinger.

Baby Development Stage at Seven months
Your baby will be able to sit on his own for a longer time, particularly if he can lean forward slightly to balance himself. He will now be able to hold an object with both hands.Baby Development Stage at Eight months
At eight months your baby will be able to sit completely on his own and will be able to turn around. He will getting into a crawling position and will be able to grasp small objects with his hands.

Baby Development Stage at Nine months
Your baby will be trying to crawl although this may be in a ‘commando’ style by pulling himself along with his arms. He may start poking things with his finger.

Baby Development Stage at Ten months
Your baby will be able to crawl with straight arms and legs and will probably be trying to pull himself in to a standing position. He will also now be able to hold two objects in one hand.

Baby Development Stage at Eleven months
At eleven months your baby will be able to toddle when supported and will be able to ‘cruise’ along the furniture unaided. He will be able to feed himself with finger food and give and take objects.

Baby Development Stage at Twelve months
Your baby will start to stand by himself or even take a few steps. His coordination will improve constantly and he will be able to roll a ball across the floor. As I said these milestones are only guideline.

Your baby will develop in his own time so don’t try and force him to do so more quickly than he wants just help and encourage him all you can.

Making teething biscuits at home rather than buying branded foods
is one alternative, and would require learning about various recipes for teething biscuits. There are many teething biscuit recipes and making them yourself at home is a good alternative to buying branded ones.

Banana Bread Sticks

1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
1 cup mashed banana
1 3/4 cups flour (white, whole wheat, or a combination)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Combine ingredients and stir only until smooth. Pour into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour or until firmly set.

Cool, remove from pan, and cut into sticks. Spread sticks out on a cookie sheet and bake at 150 degrees F for 1 hour or longer until the sticks are hard and crunchy. Store in a tightly covered container. Source: Feed Me I’m Yours by Vicki Lansky

Egg-Free Baby Cereal Cookies

1 cup flour
1 cup dry flavored or unflavored infant rice cereal
3 tablespoons cooking oil
ice water

Directions:
Preheat oven 425F
Mix flour and cereal.
Gradually stir in oil. Mix a little ice water at a time (start with 1/4 cup) until dough begins to form a ball and pull away from the bowl.
Roll out to the thickness of a cracker on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 min. or until lightly brown. Cool completely.

The obvious advantage to using your own recipes for teething biscuits and making them yourself is that they will probably be more nutritious for your baby plus it can help save you a lot of money. Also, there are many store-bought teething biscuits
that contain high sugar levels or other ingredients that can even lead to your baby developing allergies.

So why not give it a go!

Jack and I finally decided to go look for baby bedding. With the brown and pink color scheme already chosen, it seemed like it would be an easy task. All we had to do was go to the store and look at a couple of options – that wouldn’t take very long, now would it? The first problem with the plan came when the store told us they don’t carry baby bedding. At the next store, we found baby bedding, but brown and pink was mysteriously absent. I thought that was weird, since brown and pink is supposed to be trendy these days. Went to a third store, and they told us the same thing – no brown and pink! So we headed home and hopped on the computer (not literally!!), searched around a bit, found this: Maya baby bedding, and we were all done. To be honest, I felt a little dumb for not trying that *before* we went out.

If you’re curious, here’s the description of the bedding:
Why is it that babies get the coolest stuff? This funky, hip crib set with polka dots and stripes presents a modern take on the “pretty in pink” standard for little girls. This Maya baby girl bedding collection includes a pretty solid pink color in the softest velour material along with striking 100% cotton twill material with bold stripes of pink, caramel, chocolate brown and white. The polka dot material is 100% cotton percale pink with chocolate brown dots. The solid chocolate brown and caramel colors are 100% polyester material. The coverlet which is perfect for keeping babies warm is a striking patchwork of all the different materials – stripes, polka dots and solids. The ultra suede brown trim perfectly sets off the look. The crib bumper comes in four separate pieces and is encased in a removable slip cover that incorporates both the stripes and polka dots and highlighted beautifully with the brown suede trim. The best part is the slip covers can be washed and replaced with ease! The crib skirt incorporating all of the pretty in pink and chocolate brown colors and patterns is the final touch on an overall charming bedding set, perfect for baby girls.

Parenting is very much trial and error for most people, but it is often based on what the mother or father experienced themselves as children. However most parents are anxious to do the best they can for their children and most children do realize this – even when they are being told off. Hence whichever types of parenting style you decide on bond of love is the defining influence.

One of the most common types of parenting styles is smothering by the mother and criticism by the father. The mother tries to spoon feed her children at every occasion, and is overly concerned about their increasing need for independence as they grow older. On the other hand, the children can do no right in the eyes of the father, who constantly criticizes their appearance, behavior and performance. This is often a throwback back on the insecurities and problems faced by the parents while they were growing up. An overly critical parent may be reacting to stress at work, or other inter-personal relationships, including with the spouse.

Reaction to Different Types of Parenting Styles

Children, who are raised by a smothering mother and over critical father, may react in different ways. This can either make the children manipulative or, if they recognize that their parents actually want the best for them, make them stronger. They can respond to these two contrary types of parenting styles constructively. Instead of growing up manipulating the mother and resenting the father, the children can face up to the father’s criticism and improve themselves or confront his remarks positively. They can indulge in their mother’s over-protectiveness, or learn to take it lightly, and gently chide her for it.

However, not all children respond in this healthy manner, even within the same family. Some grow up as bullies and sullen people who cannot face a real challenge in life. These are options that children face while growing up, and their emotional growth really depends on their response to the types of parenting styles they have experienced

Different circumstances result in different parenting styles, but it is the various influences during the formative years that determine the type of adult the child will become. Other people such as grandparents, teachers or peers exert other influences but generally, children who recognize their parents’ underlying sincerity and love, however misguided they are at times, can grow up to be strong and tolerant individuals.
