If only we could see inside of ourselves! How easy it would be to check for various conditions, to know our own blood pressure, and to be aware of it when we’re gaining weight. But until we develop such x-ray vision you may be interested in finding out some tricks to determine the sex of your baby.

For centuries there have been many “old wives tales” about tricks to determine the sex of your baby; many have believed that the way a woman is carrying the child or the shape of her belly as it grows are both affected by the gender of the baby. Many have felt that if a woman’s belly is developing higher then she will have a boy while girls tend to sit lower in the belly.

Of course you may be looking for tricks to determine the sex of your baby before conception; many prefer one gender over the other to round out their family, because they want one of each gender, or for whatever reason they may have. While nothing short of scientific or medical intervention can absolutely guarantee one gender over another, there are some who believe that there are tricks to determine the sex of your baby before conception. For example, many believe that deeper penetration during intercourse will favor a boy since the sperm containing the Y chromosome for a boy seems to travel faster, whereas the sperm containing the X chromosome for a girl is somewhat slower but lasts longer. Some also believe that salty foods will help to nourish the sperm with the Y chromosome for boys whereas sweet or sugary foods are better for the sperm with the X chromosome for girls.

There are scientific tricks to determine the sex of your baby; there is a procedure called “sperm spinning” where the sperm is spun to separate it; the Y chromosomes go to the top while the X chromosomes settle at the bottom. Of course this procedure is only available to those who are undergoing in vitro fertilization and is very costly.
