One of the first things you could do is to buy a couple of teething rings for the baby. Some teething rings are filled with water and these ones are great for putting in the refrigerator, because the cold water helps to numb the gums.

Another thing that you should know is that colds often coincide with teething although nobody really knows why. If the baby has a slight fever then sooth him with a damp washcloth to cool him down and make him feel refreshed.
